Post-Symposium Day Trip

Hello everyone!  I'm Kalina Wilson, an urban sketcher from Portland, Oregon. Expect an actual introduction here soon, but for now...


I've been working with the symposium's travel agent, Idalina Vieitas, to arrange a post-Symposium day trip so we can have the opportunity to see some of the island outside of Santo Domingo.  She and I are still firming up the details, but here's what it looks like so far:

Date: Sunday, July 15
Time: Undetermined. We will probably leave between 8am and 9am and get back between 7pm and 8pm.
Cost: $45 per person, covering transportation only
Transport: We will have a driver/guide and a vehicle intended for 15-22 people
Final destination: Samaná, on the north coast - 2 hours drive from Santo Domingo.  This means we will spend at least 4 hours in the vehicle which is why I want to leave early and make it a fairly long day.  


Itinerary: Ours to make!  It would be safe to assume we will spend a few hours at a beautiful beach where we will have the option to sketch or swim or perhaps nap, and during the hottest part of the day we will find a comfortable place to enjoy lunch.  However, we can make our own decisions about where we want to stop, how long we'll stay, and so on.  It will be perfect for sketchers. I think it will also work nicely for any of us who are *exhausted* sketchers just wanting to do some walking and gazing :-)

Please let me know if you may be interested.  Right now there are at least 14 seats available, beyond people who have already expressed interest in person or via Facebook.  As details become available or if I develop further ideas about the itinerary, I'll post in the comments below.
