What to bring:
- Sunscreen and a hat!
- Bring your typical sketching materials
- Remember to leave space in your luggage for the goodies you will receive at the Symposium, including sketchbooks from Canson, Strathmore and Stillman & Birn
Arriving in Santo Domingo:
- Visitors are required to purchase a $10 tourist card at the airport to present at passport control. Click here for more information on the Symposium site.
- Airport taxis are located outside the glass windows to the left when you come out of the airport. Make sure you talk to the person organizing the taxis and ask for your price before taking the cab. It is usually a flat fee since "meters" are not used.
While in Santo Domingo:
- Apply plenty of sunscreen
- Wear your hat
- Stay hydrated with bottled water. Do not drink the tap water.
- It is recommended that you leave valuables in your hotel safe and carry only necessary items with you. Even though the Colonial Zone is a safe area it is not recommended to carry too much cash. If you are going to change money at the airport, change the amount necessary for the first day. You will find banks in the area that open early and close late where you can change a smaller amount of money at a time.
