We were strolling around on our first morning in Santo Domingo when we met Juan, a registered tourist guide who offered to take us on a walking tour round the Colonial Zone. As some of you will have realised, not much has been written about this city in English. Despite having studied the guidebooks in advance, we would not have got as much out of the day if we had done it on our own, and we had a great time.
