Symposium Participant: Elizabeth Alley

Hi all! I'm Elizabeth Alley from Memphis, TN. I attended the first Symposium in Portland, OR, and can't wait for this one!

I head up the Urban Sketchers group in Memphis, which I started right after I got back from the Portland Symposium, because I enjoyed the experience so much and I wanted to share it with people at home. We've grown a lot in the last two years! That also lead me to teaching classes on sketching - getting comfortable with sketchbooks, sketching in color and sketching the landscape - at Flicker Street Studio. Talking and sharing about sketching is almost as much as sketching.

For the 3rd International Sketching Symposium in Santo Domingo, I've been working with sponsors to get donations of funds for the symposium and products for participants. It has been a great experience, combining my love for sketching with my tendency towards project management. The best of both worlds, really!

In additional to all this work spreading the good word about sketching, I am a technical writer by day, and an artist by night. I make oil on canvas paintings and tiny oil on paper paintings (like, 3" square, tiny). You can see my artwork on my website elizabethalley.com, and more sketches on my blog, Sketchwork.

See you in Santo Domingo!

  3. A big, big thank you Elizabeth for your work with the Sponsors! I drew a sketch of you in Portland, while we were listening to Gabi's lecture. Orling’s arm is in it, too. http://flic.kr/p/8sCmKy
