Tea, Milk and Honey with Marc Holmes

I learned a lot about watercolours with Marc. He shared his working process with us in a step by step demonstration. First he explained and exemplified the Tea part and then, while we tried to do our own, he helped each participant doing it. For the next two steps, Milk and Honey, he did the same. The analogy is very interesting. First put down the light colours with more water then pigment, Tea, and let it dry. Second, Milk, work the darkest parts, as shadows, apllying more pigment than water and let it dry again. The last stage, Honey, is to enhance your drawing with some pigment and almost no water.
The first exercise was to do a small thumbnail for practice. Here is mine:

After the workshop, on the way back to lunch, we passed a small shop with a very interesting and unique sign:

"Please don't stop at my door to chat"
