Hi everyone! I haven’t been able to follow everything about the Symposium since I’ve been working more than usual... but my wonderful husband and sketching partner Luis Aparicio (who will also attend the symposium) has kept me posted on everything. Finally I have more time and I’m starting to get everything ready for it... starting with the blog!
I’m an architect and professor, I teach CAD and traditional drawing courses at college and an art academy for kids called IntegrARTE. I would never imagine myself teaching how to draw, since I was terrified of it when I first entered Architecture School. I did what I had to do technically... but freehand drawing was a scary thing for me. After I finished graduate school I started to go sketching with my husband as a new activity to share as a couple... he is an amazing sketcher!!! and I used to feel so inhibited trying to draw beside him. One thing though, I tend to like challenges... and was tired of having a piece of paper making me feel afraid... so I took it as a dare. I had overcome many difficulties to graduate so now it was time to overcome that silly fear!!! It’s been great, I still like my husband’s sketches better than mine... but I’m really proud of the new found love for drawing and I’m getting better results every day. Also I have discovered the passion to teach others.
Initially I fell in love with watercolors... but love pencil and charcoal, recently started to use acrylics... but I’m open to learn every medium I can so the sky is the limit!!!
Along with being an architect I love industrial design, crochet, cooking, photography and a wide variety of crafts... looking forward to know a lot of different people and be able to share this wonderful way of life that sketching is!!!
As my husband said my first language is Spanish, but I speak fluent English as well, so I'd gladly serve as a translator for any of you while in Santo Domingo.

ReplyDeleteGuys, by the way, we've been together for almost 19 years, and we've tried lots of hobbies to do together... nothing has ever worked for both of us. Sketching has been, for the last year and a half, a family activity, as our 8yo son goes out sketching with us most times.
I hope we can keep attending to future symposiums, right Bri?
